The Downey Civic Theatre is a 738-seat live stage theatre owned and operated by the City of Downey and administered by the Department of Community Services. The Theatre opened on June 11, 1970 and plays host to a variety of events throughout the year and is available for rental.
An annual series of three Broadway musicals (Fall, Winter and Spring) is offered by the Downey Civic Light Opera Association www.downeyca.org/visitor_civiclight.php or by telephone by calling (562) 923-1714 and a season of classical music is provided by the Downey Symphonic Society www.downeysymphony.org/ or by telephone by calling (562) 403-2944.
